These are but a few pages of Steve's 40-odd ‘Black Book’ sketch books.


Steve first began obsessively documenting his life through visual diaries in 1986, when he first became immersed in the graffiti scene.

While most of his friends were out drinking and partying, Steve could be found most often at fellow graffiti writer's houses, drawing and planning his next big piece.

"Now, looking back, what's been recorded is the development of my techniques, concepts, ideas and thoughts,” Steve says. “Reflecting through the pages now, I still learn from who I was, and yearned to be. It’s pretty valuable to any artist, I think, to do."
